MY EXPERIENCE AT THE CREEPY HOSPITAL:(Fictional Tragic Horror Short Stories)

I am a police sub inspector working for the Indian Police. Generally, we are supposed to guard major commercial areas such as 5 star hotels.

My team and I were a bit distressed over having to always stay guarding the areas, while the general civilians always partied and celebrated inside the areas. We longed to have another break at a 5 star hotel.

But my wish was fulfilled one day, when we were called into the five star hotel dance club and asked to dance. We were also offered a week’s stay at a 25% discount (admissible only to armed forces and law enforcement officers) and got a great room to stay.I am a very paranoid person and always carry my Glock 19 service revolver with me(I have the permission).

I entered the dance hall at around 7:00pm and decided to start the enjoyment.

My team and I decided not to break the ambience there with our buffoon like dance moves and just sat by the counters waiting for fried snacks(technically a luxury) and watched all the young people dance to the music.

Suddenly the party atmosphere was disrupted, when four young guys wearing full black busted in and started shooting indiscriminately. Suddenly I saw this and escorted all the dancers and my team to safety.

I single handedly shot two of the intruders with my service revolver, while the other two wounded me with their guns. Luckily, my cousin (the inspector) also had his service revolver and helped me out.

Everyone was greatful, and the manager thanked our police team for the heroic act. Having sustained many wounds, I was sent to the hospital.

What kind of bothered me was not the pain of my bullet wounds but the surroundings of the hospital. The hospital was pretty creepy, with too many blood and organ containers and broken ceiling cassettes and it’s dilapidated walls.

I assumed that it was normal since this hospital was more than half a century old and that it was a major hospital where even organ transplants took place.

The nurse directed me to the hospital room where I was supposed to rest. My team offered to stay with me but, I told them to enjoy their time at the resort and that I would be fine myself.

My cousin and the team accepted it and my cousin told me to feel free to call him anytime for help.

It was around 3:00 am at night and I wanted to take a walk along the aisle of the hospital,(carrying my service revolver of course) and have some change of place.

I took a five minute walk and just as I was returning to my room, I saw a smoky figure rush by. I assumed nothing about it and tried falling back asleep on my bed.

Just as I switched off the light, I got a chill down my spine, as I saw a figure standing at the side of my bed. I almost let out a scream, but I shut my self up just in time so as to not disturb the other patients who were more critical.

I saw that it was a 5 year old boy who was standing near me. When I tried to take his hand, it hit me like a brick. It was no hand at all! The boy was a ghost!

Nevertheless, I asked him what was the matter.
He lifted his shirt up showing me two huge scars on his abdomen and he just disappeared!

I was a bit scared and thought of informing my cousin about it. But I decided to wait till morning.
Next day, I saw that the doctor who came to examine me had a weird snake like tattoo on his wrist. Seeing this, I got a bit triggered. I had seen the same tattoo somewhere else.

As I recollected the scene yesterday night, I saw that the shooters had the same tattoo on their wrists also. I could now put the pieces of the puzzle together. It was a deadly gang operating here.

I also could some how decipher their agenda. They would carry a shootout, then have the wounded victims come here and then somehow have their organs harvested.

I assumed this seeing the tattoo, the large number of organ containers and the ghost boy.
Just as the doctor came, he started speaking on his phone to someone else whom he addressed as ‘boss’.

He went to the patient next to me, with a syringe needle, that was a tranquillizer containing chloroform.

Just as the doctor tried to come to the patient next to me, I closed the room door, locked it shut and grappled the doctor. I pushed the syringe out of his hand and put my gun into his mouth.

I told him that I am a police sub inspector and told him to own up. He was really terrified by my act and gave all the information and how many people were killed for their organs.

I covered his mouth with a cloth, put chilly power which I got with the meals in his eyes and tied up his hands and told my cousin to immediately come to the hospital in uniform with extra officers. I explained the whole situation to him.

He came in not more than 10 minutes, with a large group of 40 armed police constables.
He broke open the door and came in to help me apprehend the criminal doctor while all other officers went to search the hospital.

The patients were moved to police and government hospitals, while all the hospital staff were taken to the police station alongside the doctor.

My cousin and I investigated the hospital with four other constables and we made a shocking discovery. There were small children locked in barrels and cages. We immediately broke open the barrel and cages and helped the children out.

The children were also taken to police and government hospitals.

We informed our senior officers about the entire situation and the police force was on the move to end this organ trafficking ring. We arrested a few other doctors and gangsters, who were a part of the same gang (identified by the tattoos on their wrists).

We immediately asked all the tattoo centres to not feature this specific snake tattoo on their list and we arrested about 50 gangsters and 20 doctors across the city.

On interrogation, they told who was actually responsible for the organ trafficking ring. He was a big don who was trying to escape the city that same evening.

I immediately informed our senior officers about the case. They informed all the transport authorities to scrutinize all routes leading out of the city.

Then the police team got an alert from the highway patrol that a suspicious speeding vehicle was spotted on the airport road. A blue truck that just hit a highway patrol car and sped away very fast. Since my team was the closest to the airport road, we chased after them.

We caught that blue truck in not more than fifteen minutes and screamed at them to stop.
But the truck sped away further after firing a few bullets, which also punctured the police interceptor tires.

We could not drive too fast with a flat tire, but requested the police headquarters for backup.
They said that backup is on its way, and a team of airport security had also set a block on the driveway leading to the airport.

After 8 minutes of driving, on the road, we saw the same blue truck that was trying to take a U-TURN, attempting to escape from the roadblock of the airport security.

However their U-TURN attempt was foiled as I drove my police interceptor into the truck, thus barring it from moving.

Just as I blocked the truck, 4 police cars came with heavily armed police constables, who raided the truck. We found three gang members in the truck and had them arrested on spot.

We searched the truck and saw a lot of tranquillizer and surgery equipment being transported in a very unorganized format.

We interrogated these three gang members also and found out that two of them were playing a major role in this trafficking act. I asked them, if I could also play with their body and test my surgical skills on their eyes and tongue. They cried out of fear and told me everything about their gang.

The one guy who was missing, the last piece of the puzzle, was yet to be arrested. We thought about it for sometime and then went to do some investigation in the dance area of the five star hotel. There we saw the manager trying to apprehend someone, who was holding a knife.

We intervened in the fight and got the attacker arrested. He was trying to murder the manager for having got the police involved. But the murder was impossible, because the lead of the organ trafficking ring was in our hands, (hands of the police). We later found out that the manager too was involved in the organ trafficking ring and thus he told that he got the police involved due to some fight he had  with the boss. I told them that there was no need to fight and that the court would resolve the matter.

We had the sentence announced in the court the very same evening. The three leaders were given a death sentence while other members involved had to serve life imprisonment with less chances of parole.

I was more than elated over having cracked a major case and having cleared a heap of deadly garbage.

The next day, I was called to the Police Commissioner’s office where I was rewarded for my work and offered a promotion to the inspector level.

But I rejected the offer, wishing to serve as a sub inspector itself and requested the commissioner to hand over the cash prize I obtained to care for the children who were suffering from trauma and malnourishment.

My Experience with the Ghost of a Marine Commando (Fictional Tragic Horror Short Stories)

I am a police sub inspector working for the Indian Police.

Generally, we spend most of our time in small police cabins, near sensitive areas where there could be problem if trouble starts brewing.

It was a very cold rainy night, near famous mall, which had recently been opened. I was a little unhappy seeing rich people shopping for fabulous clothes, jewellery, makeup and etc. while I had to stay in my cabin with my constables and my cousin ( the inspector). But we were not very short of happiness in anyway as we had a small but comfortable cabin for all of us.

We felt a little bogged down by the cold and wet weather and decided to sleep in the cabin. We decided to do that, because the crowd had subsided and there was no problem sleeping off.

It was around 3:00am, when I saw a figure standing in the middle of the road. I was suddenly disoriented, as I was very tipsy and given that it was raining I was unable to see what was that.

Once the rain subsided, I went outside and approached the figure, only to find that it was a young boy in a Marine Commando uniform.

Now, an alarm went off in my head, because I remembered my previous experience with the Ghost Soldier of the Indian Army, and thought that this was the same.

But being a grown up and rational police officer, I could not believe my intuitions and decided to help the Marine Commando. I held his hand and brought him inside the police cabin. My constables gave him a towel to wipe himself dry and warm himself, while I went towards the kitchenette to prepare a glass of hot tea for the Marine Commando.

I served him the tea on a small table we had, along with a few cookies . I asked him from where he came and if he wanted any help. He surprisingly replied to me and told me that he was from the navy garrison nearby and that he had come back home after serving in a stand off operation deep in the sea waters.

I asked him if he would like to rest for the night in the police cabin itself, and we offered him a single bed. My cousin (the inspector) also cooked some snacks for the Marine Commando using the cabin kitchenette.

Just as my cousin brought the plate of snacks towards the Marine Commando, we all were suddenly shocked, seeing that he had no shadow under the incandescent bulb of the cabin.

We were really sad that it was an encounter with another martyred serviceman of the armed forces.

I was super emotional and burst into tears. But then the Marine Commando told me, not to worry and that I was really generous to have helped him.

He said that we as police officers should be really ready to help anyone and everyone.

I can’t believe that I have encountered two ghosts of servicemen from the armed forces and a few other.

But as always I will try my best to always help and deliver justice.

The Encounter with the Ghost Soldier; (Fictional Tragic Horror Short Stories)

I work as a police sub inspector in the Indian Police.

I generally feel monotonous of my work inside the police station and therefore take breaks sometimes by accompanying my beat constables and patrolling the neighborhood.

My neighborhood is notorious for crime such as vehicle theft, attacks on night walkers and vandalism, particularly at night. So I decided that I would beat with my constables (i.e. patrol the area and help safeguard it).

Main Story:-

It was a cold winter night on 31st December, the day before New Year, New Year’s Eve. Everyone was awake waiting for the clock to strike 12:00. I was quite unhappy because I had to patrol alone in my police cars, while others sat at home enjoying the night before 1st January.

As I turned my police car into an empty road, I saw a young soldier of the Indian army standing there staring at a tree. I got off my car, so as to have a chat with him and also thank him for his service. It was not abnormal to see him, because there are a few Indian army soldiers who live here, in this area .

Recently there had been a stand off at one of our borders, so now that the stand off was settled, I assumed that the soldier would have returned home, to reunite with his family.

I put my car in park mode and approached the soldier. I also had a box of sweet which I wanted to give him. I walked towards the soldier and called him. I spoke to him for sometime and also gave him the sweet. I thanked him for his service and wished him a happy new year.

He just blankly stared at me for a long time. I assumed that he was just disoriented. I did not give much notice as I bade him goodbye and continued with my beat.

I continued it for 20 minutes and returned to the same lane just to check on the soldier, only now to see him crying! I was really scared now and felt that the soldier might be suffering from trauma. Being a police officer, I couldn’t just leave him by himself. So I invited him into my police car.

He calmly came and sat in my back seat. I decided to take him to the police hospital, where I could have him admitted free of cost for any needed treatment.

The hospital was a 20 minute drive away and I decided to take him there anyway.l informed my constables about the total situation and told them to take care of the beating work, while I drove the soldier to the hospital.

The road was empty and really quiet except for the howling of dogs and the sound of crickets. I was driving to the hospital ignoring all other things. All the while, the young soldier sat very still!

Halfway through the drive my police car stopped due a battery failure. I was really annoyed and got to the bonnet, to inspect the battery. I got the jump starter and hooked it to the car battery.

I would be about 10 minutes before the car would actually start with the jump starter. In order to kill time, I decided to know more from the young soldier and wanted to strike another conversation with him.

As I went towards him, I was rudely taken aback as I saw the horrifying sight, which froze my spine!!

I noticed that the young soldier cast no shadow, under the bright street light. I suddenly burst out, as it was a mixed feeling of sadness, fear and confusion. I then realised that there was no soldier at all. He was a ghost soldier, which implied he had already been martyred!

Seeing this, I burst into tears and screamed into my walkie talkie like a maniac, requesting backup.

Just as I started crying, the young soldier told me this phrase;

"You were a really generous police officer, please keep serving the society the same way with kindness and commitment. "I have to go now, but you stay strong"

And he just disappeared!

After 10 minutes, just as I started my car, backup arrived. I had calmed down at that point of time and told them about the entire incident. Just then the firecrackers started symbolising that it was new years.

Next day, I found out the address and went to the young soldier’s house and spoke to his parents. They too were in tears and told that their son was killed in the line of duty during the stand off!

I comforted them by giving them a few words of sympathy and told them that their son laid down his life for the country and they should be proud.

I walked out with a mixed feeling and intense sadness thinking how the family would come to terms with the loss. Also why conflicts cannot be resolved in a peaceful manner.

I would like to conclude by saying that we should always respect and salute the people who stay awake day and night and do not hesitate to lay down their lives so that you and me can enjoy a peaceful sleep.

Salute to all the people serving in armed forces.

The Ghost Boy at the Haunted Beach; (Fictional Tragic Horror Short Stories)

I am a police sub inspector working for the Indian Police. Unlike the other occupations, police officers do not have any such thing as a peak season of work or a vacation season, because crime does not have a season to happen.

I always prayed that a day will come when I can have a vacation to a beach resort, with all my immediate colleagues. My cousin is the inspector in the same station, and he was more than ready to accompany us on a vacation.

Having served in the police force faithfully for three
years, our senior officers, were more than ready to grant us leave for vacation. We were really happy and booked our tickets and also booked our hotel rooms.

The day had come sooner than expected!

We went to the beach resort by train and really enjoyed the train journey. We added spice to the bland boring journey by narrating our horror experiences in the past.

Everyone teased me when I told them about my experience with the ghost soldier and told me that I am the biggest scardy cat 🐈.

I just laughed it off, and slept during the afternoon part of the journey. When I woke up at 4:00pm, I had an uncanny feeling that I would experience something during the vacation.

I told about my feeling to my cousin (the inspector), who just dismissed my words saying that I was just a scardy cat 🐈 with a wild imagination.

Nevertheless, we eventually got to the station, and took a taxi to the beach resort during which I temporarily forgot my feelings.

We got into the beach resort and were amazed at the ambience and all the facilities offered. We got a cricket set, and started playing cricket, which brought back memories of our childhood ( the days we played in our village).

It was about 7:00pm, by the time we ended playing and went to the buffet to grab our dinner.
We had a great feast and ate to our hearts content given the large variety of options.

We played some indoor games like table tennis and carrom in the games room and it was almost 12:00am.

We were not getting any sleep given the fact that we had slept during the afternoon. So we decided to kill time by again narrating horror stories.

Then, we came up with the golden idea to go to the beach at 3:00am to see if there was anything strange. I was being teased all the time for being a coward, but laughed it all off. When we were at the beach,We suddenly heard the noise of a young boy crying! All my colleagues suddenly got really spooked. We were 8 of us, but we huddled together due to the spook.

We then heard footsteps advancing towards us. My cousin (the inspector) almost screamed like a maniac requesting help.

Then, suddenly the sound stopped. We felt we had enough of it, and decided that we are going back to our rooms.

Just as we were walking back to our rooms, I felt a hand touch me! When I looked back, it was a young boy crying. I was rather concerned and asked him what was the problem.

He just let out a cry of pain and ran towards the beach. He then suddenly disappeared! He was an actual ghost.

This was the scariest scene I had scene in my life and wanted to know what was actually going on? Was it a prank? Many questions stormed my brain.

None of us could sleep that night and decided to catch up on our sleep.between 6:00am and 11:00am.

Then we got up, had a coffee and decided to speak to the receptionist about our experience.
He said that there was a 19 year old boy, who worked as a servant in a mansion near the resort.

He had borrowed money, from the owners for some medical emergency, but failed to return it.
Infuriated, the wealthy, yet heartless owner of the mansion and two security guards proceeded to brutally hit him with iron rods till he bled to death. They then threw his blood stained body into the beach, to escape arrest.

I was almost in tears hearing this incident and decided to compromise my vacation and take on a case instead.

My entire team was more than ready to compromise on the vacation and help me with the case.

We went to the boy’s house, which was not more than a slum, close to the resort. His mother saw us and burst into tears when we enquired about her son. She said that he was the eldest of 4 children and the only bread earner since her husband passed away 5 years back.

When I asked her as to why she did not complain to the authorities, she said that the owner of the house had threatened them not to do so, or they might lose their lives.

I was very instigated by seeing this and wanted to give justice to the family somehow.

Next day, my entire team went to the nearest police station and explained the entire story.

My cousin requested the inspector of the station to help finish this case. The inspector of the station was really happy to have support and decided to take up the case.

We first went to the mansion, and broke open the gate. The two wild security guards, who were under the influence of alcohol, tried to attack me and my team.

But being trained in martial arts and also possessing power, I thrashed the security guards left, right and centre, along with my constables who used cane sticks to hit the security guards and knock them out.

When we rang the doorbell, there was no reply. No reply at all. Actually it was a situation in which the owner’s wife came near the door, but seeing police, she dreaded to open the door.

I screamed, “you either open the door, or I will break the door and come in”.

As I was trying to open the door forcefully, suddenly four servants sprang out from nowhere wielding country made guns and tried to shoot at our team of officers. These situations are common in case of wealthy criminals, so it wasn’t a new thing.

Since we had our police department guns with us anyway, a battle ensued in which the servants were all shot in their hands, legs and the lower torso, thus suffering non lethal injuries.

The country made guns wielded by amateur criminal servants were no match to the Glock 19’s wielded by well trained police officers.

When we finally broke into the house, and entered, the wealthy owner tried to lift a handgun and attack, but was soon overpowered because of me shooting him in his arm!

We were a team of 16 police officers, 8 in uniform and 8 in civilian clothes, and we searched the full mansion.

My cousin and three constables assisted with searching, while I loaded the injured servants, the security guards and the owner into the police van, with the help of my other three constables.

We took them to the station and brutally thrashed them with our cane sticks as they wailed in pain. We continued to thrash them for everything that they did, and I was so mad that I almost took my Glock 19 to shoot the owner. The rich owner revealed all the information and told me everything that the had done, and begged me not to shoot him.

Luckily, one of my constables stopped me, reminding me that it was the department gun and that it was to be used only when the offender was wielding a gun and not for interrogation purposes.

Later, my team came to the police station with a group of malnourished children. I found out that the owner was obtaining servants from child trafficking rings and he had links with a few of them.

I told my cousin to make arrangements to reunite the children with their families after some good care and treatment as I continued to extract more information from the owner. The owner also gave me the full details of the child trafficking rings that operated in that small beach town, causing us to arrest all of them.

The owner was booked for child abuse, encouraging child labour and was given an imprisonment of 14 years.

Then, we found the owners of the child trafficking rings and got all of them arrested. Being a small town, with less traffic, we were able to travel around in a matter of hours. Raising old buildings, warehouses and abandoned construction sites helped us find all the members of the child trafficking rings.

The next day, we had the court proceedings and had all the people sentenced within a short period of time.

That afternoon, after all the court proceedings, we came back to our resort and were both tired and happy. We felt good over having given so many people justice and reuniting so many children with their families.

When our senior officers heard of this, they were pleased and also offered to give us an extended vacation of 20 days Vs 5 says.

But then we refused the offer and told that it is our job to protect the law and keep up safety and justice whether we are on or off duty.

When we went to the beach again at night, we met the ghost boy, who thanked us for the justice we served.

He said that our team was very kind to have looked into the matter and carry on with a case at the expense of our vacation.

He wished us the best of luck in our future endeavours and told us to keep giving justice.

After which he disappeared! It was a moment of mixed feelings. The Ghost Boy was no longer alive, but was happy over justice having been served.

I would like to conclude by saying that not all ghosts are bad. Some are in pain and need justice.
It kind of gives me a weird feeling to have encountered these two ghosts. I don’t know what I will encounter in the future, but I hope I can give as much justice as possible.

My Experience at the Haunted Railway Station: (Fictional Tragic Horror Short Stories)

I am a police sub inspector working for the Indian Police. The days in the police station are usually noisy with people in lockups, making noises, the hustle of distressed victims filing complaints and also the constant ringing of phones, due to calls from central call room and friends of police officers calling to get work done faster.

My cousin (the inspector) and I, along with my team of constables, really longed for a peaceful day with no noise at all. But even before we asked for it, we were asked to stay for a night in the police booth of a small railway junction, which is generally dominated by miscreants who drink, smoke,do drugs and also harm general public and unaccompanied commuters at the railway station.

My entire team was happy and we all went to the railway station at 12:00am and found a few commuters waiting for their train. Among the six commuters was a college student, who seemed to be really quiet and a little disoriented. I thought nothing of it and just helped my team with settling in the police booth.

We setup our laptops, switched on the CCTV cameras and were just chatting with one another, just as a train arrived picking all the commuters leaving the railway station totally empty except for our team. We enjoyed the silence and the cold winds that blew across. We were cold but comfortable and decided to open our tea canister to have some late night tea with a few biscuits.

Then, suddenly our K9 dog started barking and growling aggressively, seeing the empty railway track. I calmed him down by giving him some biscuits and brought him inside the police booth thinking he was feeling cold. He ate the biscuits and fell asleep on my cousin’s ( the inspector’s) lap.

We were quite bored as the CCTV monitor showed no people, implying that technically we were jobless. In order to kill the time, we decided to narrate horror stories. Just as one of my constable was about to begin the narration, our K9 dog woke up with a jolt and started barking again at the railway track. This time, he went to the extent of running to the railway track and trying to pounce on someone.

I was quite horrified and went to get him back. I put him on the leash and told my cousin to pet him. I was just about to help myself to my cup of tea, I saw the same college student standing near the railway track! No wonder my dog was barking so loudly.

I knew something was wrong and called for the college student. As I called for him, he did not give any notice. I called for him twice but only to receive no answer.

I told my team to stay in the police booth, as I went near him with one of my constable to see what was wrong. Just as I touched his shoulder, he turned and ran at full speed towards the entrance. I chased after him along with my constable and as I reached the entrance, he disappeared in thin air!

My heart almost came out of my chest as I realized that I was really close to a ghost! I came back to the police booth and told everyone what happened. They were all spooked, but we decided not to leave because we wanted to do our duty sincerely.

Next day, at 6:00am, the snacks seller came to the station to start his day. I enquired about the apparition and asked him if there was any incident that happened. He said, “yes, there was a fight between the college student and 6 of his collegemates. It was a disagreement that went out of hand causing his collegemates to brutally thrash him and throw his body into the railway track, causing a train to run over his body! The incident took place three months prior.

I was quite horrified and disgusted to hear this and immediately told my team. We reviewed the previous CCTV footages and found out that this incident really occurred at the station at 7:00pm in the evening, 3 months prior. The snacks seller was actually right!!

The same day, I came back to the police station on the pretext of starting the crime case. I informed my senior officers about the problem and that I would like to start a case.

I took the CCTV tapes and showed it to my officers. I noticed that the name of the college was written on their bags. So my team went and interrogated the Dean of the college. He viewed the CCTV footage and was shocked! He told that the 6 offenders were actually students of the college who were always delinquent and were suspended on several accounts of bullying and assault. He never knew that a murder had taken place!

Nevertheless, he gave us the details of the six students who were involved in the murder and we decided to put their phones on tracking, and also noted down their residential addresses. We also asked our cyber department to keep a note on their activity on social media.

The next day, we found three of the offenders, who stayed in the same P.G Accomodation and got them arrested. We took them to the lockup and brutally thrashed them. Wailing in pain, they revealed all the wrong things that they had done inside and outside college and also told us about the whereabouts of the other three.

The next day, we found out via social media tracking that two of them were meeting for coffee the same morning. My team and I changed to civilian clothes and entered the crowded cafe and acted like, we were befriending the two. Just as they were about to leave, my team caught them and took them to the police station. They too were interrogated the same way.

We were really elated as the puzzle was almost completed and that we were yet to find the last piece. Finding the last piece was just a walk in the park, as the 6th offender posted a picture of himself, near the local mall which was a 10 minute walk from the police station. My team and I took our police car and found him trying to take another selfie!

We photobombed his selfie in the coolest manner possible, and immediately cuffed him up, as he tried to run. We had all the six offenders in our custody and they were interrogated again and again.

Next day, we took all of them to the court, where they were sentenced for murder.

At the end of the Day, I was tired but happy over the fact that another heap of garbage was cleared and that another container of justice was dispensed.

The college student finally got the justice he deserved.

I HOPE YOU ALL ENJOYED MY FICTIONAL TRAGIC HORROR STORY AND STAY TUNED FOR MORE STORIES.

My Experience with the Naale Baa: (Fictional Tragic Horror Short Stories)

When I was serving as a police sub inspector in the Indian Police, I always heard the stories of the Naale Baa; a spirit of a newly married lady who met a tragic end the same night she got married.

Out of despair, she knocks on doors late at night. If someone answers the door, bad luck falls on the entire family, as the earning member of the family is killed. The spirit preys on young men and rips them to shreds.

In order to repel the spirit, the residents write ” Nale Baa” which means ” Come tomorrow” so that the spirit will walk away and choose to come the next day, and the cycle will repeat.

MAIN EXPERIENCE:-

My cousin and I are police officers in the Indian Police. We were aiming for IPS ranks. Since that would take time and that we needed a source of income while preparing for UPSC examinations, we decided to enlist in the police academy. We decided to take roles as state police personnel and decided that working in the state police department would help us gain knowledge on issues that exist at ground level and thus be helpful in the future.

We graduated from the police academy and when it was time to select our postings, my cousin and I wasted no time in stating that we wanted nothing but adventure postings. In the Indian Police, we have three postings(they differ by name in many places but the concept is similar): –

  1. Cream Postings: – This is a type of posting in which we take a posting in an uptown area in a large city. We also have close contacts with politicians and celebrities and other wealthy, famous and powerful people, who will cradle us, protecting us from any harm and will spoil us with the most lavish privileges’.
  2. Nest Postings: – This is a type of posting where money and safety have a balance. But most importantly, we are close to our friends and family, mostly within our home cities or very close to that.
  3. Adventure Postings: – This is the least selected postings that are given to a very few unlucky ones. Most police personnel get this when all the other postings are filled and these are the only ones left. Nobody wants these as they involve working in very rural and isolated areas with zero access to running water and food. Besides there is a very close proximity to internal terrorists, drug smugglers and other deadly criminals. There is absolutely no way to call for help if something goes wrong!

As usual, we only wanted the adventure postings and got it after a lot of fuss. The senior officers were surprised at this demand, but they agreed.

OKAY, LET US JUMP TO THE EXPERIENCE: –

It was a cold and rainy evening, in a very rural location of Northern Karnataka, near the Karnataka-Maharashtra border. This area was notorious for the presence of internal terrorists who had unreasonable demands. Besides, they would not surrender because they had all they needed to survive, automatic rifles and grade A communication equipment.

This was not a problem for us as my cousin and I, wielding positions of Inspector and Sub Inspector rank respectively always had glued a gun to our hands. We started doing encounters that would leave criminals surrendering or getting arrested or killed.

However, there was one night when we were in the police station doing virtually nothing. We were having dinner when the phone rang. It was the central call room that instructed us to go to a particular location. The message said:

“The Naale Baa has come there. Please go there fast. Officers carry a gun. Over and Out”.

I did not exactly know what it meant. But I felt that it was a work of some big criminal group. My cousin instructed me to go there with three constables. Fearing an ambush, all of us wore bulletproof jackets and helmets and took our AK-56 and INSAS Assault Rifles with 4 extra magazines for each. I on the other hand carried the same with my additional Glock 17 Service Pistol and my 1A Auto Pistol.

We reached the location and checked as to which house it had come from. We found the house and I screamed “Police, open the door”. An elderly woman opened the door and told that the Naale Baa has come and she will kill the boys.

I asked her as to who exactly was the person and as to whether there were some marital affairs that had become violent.

Then the lady told: “That Naale Baa is a spirit of a newly married woman who was tragically killed the same day she got married”. She told us that we should also be careful as she feels angry and kills men, whom she mistakes her to be her own husband. The lady also told that if anyone opens the door when the spirit knocks, she will kill the person instantly. Thus we write ‘Naale Baa’, which in the Indian Kannada language means ‘Come Tomorrow’. “

I felt it confusing as to how people believed in such things even in the modern day scenario. But I decided to help because it could definitely be a hand work of some criminals.

I asked two constables to stay near the house while I went with one constable to search the location. When I was coming back to the house, I heard the sound of anklets rattling in the distance. It was getting louder and louder and was also accompanied by a crying sound.

I suddenly felt a hand touch my shoulder and when I looked back, I saw the scariest sight I had ever seen. It was a woman in a wedding saree wearing anklets and bangles. It was no ordinary woman but she had slightly red coloured eyes and her finger nails and teeth were like that of a carnivorous animal. Her hair was extremely dirty and it looked like she was wearing seaweed as her wig. She tried to come closer.

I ordered my constable to run, while I physically tried to attack her. I punched her twice and tried to stab my bayonet into her stomach but nothing seemed to work. It felt like a dream.

I too ran towards the house and confirmed it that there was a spirit actually. I had forgotten my Walkie Talkie but I used my mobile phone to call my cousin for backup. If I had my Walkie Talkie then I could have also informed the control room. I called my cousin and told him to get more force.

He told that he was on his way and that a team of 40 officers were coming from the armed battalion reserve. I suspected something large and thus took this step. For you it may seem impractical but the situation was actually very terrifying. He told me to hold on for 15 minutes at least because given the fact that the rain had drenched the roads, it would be difficult to drive fast.

My constables and I huddled towards each other pointing our guns in 4 different directions. Ahead of me, next to a tree I saw her standing. I took out my 1A Auto Pistol and aimed it at her. I screamed:

“Who are you? Explain yourself”

“Better give up, I am armed”

“Either you surrender or you die. That’s it”

Despite having asked these three questions I decided to shoot my gun at her. I aimed my 1A Auto Pistol and shot a bullet. Nothing happened!!!

I shot another one, then another. At this point, I saw her fall to the ground instantly. No squirming, no reaction, nothing!!! She fell like a statue!!

Just as I had finished shooting, I heard the sirens and saw red and blue lights flashing in the distance. It was the bus from the armed battalion reserve of the police. My cousin too arrived shortly with three constables.

We were a team of 48 officers and went to search the area. All the officers searched the area when my cousin and I went near the tree, where I had seen the spirit. But when I went there, my heart skipped a few beats as usual.

There was no corpse, no blood, no signs of physical pain, nothing at all!!!

All we found were the 9 mm bullets that were fired from my 1A Auto Pistol.

We marked the crime scene but decided not to give too much attention to it. Cases were piling up and we had to see that. We could afford to waste no time on this.

So we decided to conclude the case and left.

When we went back to the police station, we could not concentrate on anything. All of us were looking at random points in the sky wondering what it was.

“Was it an actual spirit?”

“Was it really dangerous?”

“Was it a criminal group trying to use a projector?”

Absolutely no information came.

THE MONSTER THAT HURTS MANY AND KILLS SOME; DEPRESSION

We have all grown up with the fears of monsters. Being it the monster under our beds, or the monsters in our bathroom, closets, attics and just about anywhere. We had these fears as young children generally until the age of ten.

Many people always tell us that as we grow up, all our fears will shrink. But the truth is that we may feel more insecure growing up.

Well the truth is no different in this case, as we encounter the most frightening monster in our adolescence. His name is Mr. Depression, the one who wants to hurt poor young adolescents and try to ruin their lives!!

In reality, we are referring to the common term “Depression”, the most well known psychological condition that gives a feeling of sadness, causing a negative impact on thinking/cognitive skills and leading to a loss of interest in keeping up commitments and hobbies.

The most dangerous consequence of depression is that it can lead to intense suicidal thoughts that may finally trigger a fatality. It also increases the tendency to indulge in substance abuse and self-harm

“thus the problem should be dealt with very carefully and seriously”.

In simpler terms, the person becomes involuntarily lazy and always spends his or her time just unproductively killing it by sleeping, roaming, etc.

Everything in the world has causes, and depression is no exception:

“This damn monster hit most of my friends, causing me to lose two of them!!!

I was able to help some of my friends battle this devious monster and it was a fruitful effort.

But as I was helping out others, the monster silently crept into my own life and ended up tormenting me for a year or so. Thankfully I was able to discuss the situation with parents and elders, and with some professional help the crisis was largely contained.

Do believe me when I tell you that it was a huge war fighting depression, but the wounds and scars still remain.

OKAY!! That’s enough of my personal story and lets dig deep to see what this monster wants;

I mean, let me elaborate the cause of depression!!

  • Abuse: Those who have encountered abuse have a higher chance of developing depression in life.

  • Conflicts: When people enter into conflicts with friends or family, the thoughts about it can cause depression.

  • Traumatic Experiences: Although similar to abuse, those who have encountered traumatic experiences or  disturbing scenes, both in reality and in media (movies and video games), are susceptible to be affected with depression.

Hmm…… yeah, how to fight this dangerous monster???

In most of the monster stories, a monster is known to terrorize a single person..    But the monster shudders, even at the thought of an angry group of people armed with machetes and torches.

So, the question arises that should we actually use weapons to cure depression?????

NO NO NO NO!!!!  NOT AT ALL!!!

  • Weapons are dangerous and we should not promote/glorify violence!!!!!!

Although the solutions for depression are deep rooted, some easy and basic procedures can really help if followed diligently.

OKAY, LET’S STOP BEATING AROUND THE BUSH AND GET TO THE POINT RIGHT AWAY…

METHODS INCLUDE:

  • Talking to the Person: We can always talk to the person suffering from depression and offer a few words of sympathy. Tell them that it’s okay, it can be cured and that they will soon receive the help that they need. Also tell them that they need not indulge in any kind of self-harm or suicide.

  • Eliminating Dangerous Items: When a person is undergoing depression, thoughts of suicide and self- harm increase, thus increasing the tendency for them to convert those thoughts into actions!! It is of great importance to keep away dangerous things like knives, lighters, welding torches, guns (even stun guns), chemicals(turpentine, kerosene, methanol ,etc.) that can help in triggering suicides.

  • Consulting Professional Help: It is also important to consult a counsellor or a psychologist who can reason out logically with the person and offer some extra help.

  • Abstaining From Harsh Handling methods: When someone is undergoing depression, it is important to be soft, polite and compassionate with the person. Strongly abstain from teasing, mocking or passing comments on the victim. Also scolding them or punishing them for not keeping up their commitments is incorrect!

****** I would like to conclude by saying that spending time with a depressed person and offering him/her moral support is a step in the right direction. Do not leave a depressed person to himself/herself. Always be there for the person and show them that you are here to support him/her and that the calamity (depression) will end soon.

**** If you are a parent who is reading this, please spend more time with your children, [especially teenage children] and notice symptoms of depression in them. If you find these symptoms in your children, please do take the necessary measures to help them.

**** If you are a teenager reading this and if you are going through depression, please do note that you are not alone at all. There is absolutely no need to be embarrassed about it and do seek help. Strongly abstain from any kind of self-harm and making incorrect decisions!!!!

So I hope that the blog was informative, and stay tuned from more….

Hope we can all join the battle and support those who are affected with depression.

So please, stay strong and also help others stay strong.

JUVENILE DELIQUENCY

JUVENILE DELIQUENCY

A growing problem in many countries…

  • What is Juvenile Delinquency (JD)?
  • JD refers to the engaging in unlawful and anti-social acts by offenders who are below the age of 18 (or 17 in some jurisdictions)
  • It is considered that this age group lacks mental maturity and cannot be tried in a court of law with regular criminal prosecution.
  • What are the most common types of crimes committed by juveniles?
  • The crimes committed by juveniles have a wide range – from minor vandalism, shop lifting to major crimes such as vehicle theft and gangsterism.
  • Physical aggression on classmates and juniors and potential extortion for money and other resources are also observed in many educational institutions.
  • Use of weapons such as brass knuckles and knives to carry out assaults is also observed.
  • Causes for Juvenile Delinquency
All problems have causes behind them and Juvenile Delinquency is no exception to the rule.

Some causes will be highlighted below:

  • Family circles:

Hostile home environment and broken families lead to potential issues of JD. Witnessing acts such as lashing out, assaulting and hurling objects at one another in their own households, or sometimes being victims of these acts themselves makes them prone to aggression and they are likely to display hostile behavior outside their homes and growing up.

  • Social circles:
Similar to violence in family circles, violence in social circles is also a major cause for delinquency. In most downtrodden communities/ societies, there is dominance of gangs and other hostile influences that lead to harassing or threatening the juveniles. Thus, in order to stay out of trouble from the community gangs, juveniles tend to resort to delinquency to fit in or fight with the gangs.

  • Socio-Economic:
Juvenile delinquency is more prominent in low income neighborhoods and communities where financial resources are scarce.

  • Excessive Leisure Time and Lack of Hobbies:
Increased idle time, lack of hobbies, combined with poor financial resources cause juveniles to engage in unethical activities. It is easy to adopt bad habits and also fall prey to bad company leading to delinquent acts.

  • Under-funded Educational Institutions:
Low income educational institutions are under-funded overcrowded and lack discipline and structure. The rules and regulations are neither respected nor enforced, giving scope for unmonitored freedom. The student-teacher ratio is skewed. This paves way for bullying, bad company, extortion, etc.

  • Peer Pressure
Friends are a great source of influence – positive or negative. Mimicking friends in delinquent acts or giving in due to peer pressure is but natural.

Problems have solutions! The solutions can be easy or tough. The problem of juvenile delinquency unfortunately is the latter. This is an overarching problem from the smallest unit of the society to the entire world. Intervention from a robust Government and God is necessary to ease us from this menace.

Let’s take a moment to pray for all the impacted juveniles, who are robbed off of a blissful childhood.

The Voyage of Adolescence

We hear this term ‘adolescence’ very  often. But, what does the term actually mean?

Well, adolescence is the age between 11 and 19 years, which is characterized by major hormonal activity and other major changes in body and brain at an age that’s not very mature but fails to understand that. A stage full of physiological changes.

During adolescence, certain negative characteristics are developed (includes my personal experience), such as

  1. Increased sensitivity to criticism.
  2. Social isolation and increased want of independence.
  3. Increased aggression and snapping when told to do things.
  4. Problems such as anxiety, depression, feeling of insecurity and easy demoralization.
  5. Potential to involve in high risk activities bordering on anti-social behavior.

: DIGGING DEEPER ON CAUSES OF CHANGE IN BEHAVIOUR:

During adolescence, there is a major change in the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal axis which monopolizes on the brain’s functioning. It’s a classic case of hormones playing tyrant with the brains ability to differentiate from rational vs. irrational.

: STRESS AMONG THE PRESENT DAY ADOLESCENTS:

Modernization has lent itself as a complexity to adolescence. We are constantly focused on aping the West – YouTube, Facebook and other social media forums provide a constant feed to what’s happening ‘there’ that we want to take on ‘here’

Additionally, the pressure to perform and succeed in education remains – competitive exams to exhaustive school syllabus to extra-curricular activities, to after school commitments and the need to succeed in all, the pressure keeps building up. This success is the ticket to a good college/ university we are often told.

: EXTREME DECISIONS DURING ADOLESCENCE:

: The present generation has seen an alarming increase in the suicide rates among the adolescents. Reasons for this may sound trivial and can never be justified. However, when stress during adolescence reaches intolerable levels, the slightest issue seems like the greatest disaster, making suicide the only solution to these problems.

This is the sad reality. But “Leaving the world” is not a practical solution. The act of exiting before actual time of departure is a wasteful act leaving the kin in a painful and devastated state.

My close tryst with this has been a classmate ending her life for a reason that was trivial. Last year at this time we were prepping for our X boards and it saddens me that she’s no longer with us. Would an empathetic ear have helped her? A bright future would have awaited her if she had been able to overcome that single moment.

This is an extreme, but we often hear of such sad incidents.

: ADOLESCENCE STEPPING TO ADULTHOOD:

Many adults do brush these problems off. They argue saying that the problems during adolescence are not real and that adulthood is more complex. Well, I don’t know that yet and to me, it is debatable!

Every stage may come with its pros and cons – I’m excited to face the dynamics of life! I am capturing these thoughts as my mind rumbles today. I want to reflect on them when I make the progression into adulthood, I don’t want to be the typical adult brushing off on these issues. Maybe I will, or maybe I won’t or maybe I’ll even have a hearty laugh! I will read this blog in 2030 and make my decision!

Olive Toppings & IIT

Namaste to all readers!
My maiden blog that I start with a lot of enthusiasm. The current thought that goes through my mind is to keep the embers of my blogging bug alive always! Let’s see how it goes…
I should also give credit to my teacher who enthused me into capturing my thoughts. What’s better than a blogging platform with today’s technology offering. Here goes my first one.

Allen, Aakash, Byju – these are not names of my friends or neighborhood boys – but household names that you will hear if you are a high school student in India. I’ve only named three but you see such tutorials and coaching centres mushrooming everywhere. I attend one of these myself! Great efforts by all at the institution to help me crack the IIT, JEE, CET, NEET, AIIMS, JIPMER, KVPY. I’m getting smarter by the day, but negative marking continues to trick me and keeps my India ranking in triple digits. I cannot fathom how this ranking will change when the finals are up and multitudes of students across the country are stacked up!

A pizza outing with school buddies, a steaming Veggie Supreme pizza arrived. Cheese, jalapenos, baby corn, olives, capsicum, onions, … you know what else the topping has and you get the picture. I carved out my slice of pizza focusing on the most generous distribution of olives. They rolled off during my clumsy battle with the ever elongating cheese! A sense of loss crept in!

Pizza toppings and competitive exams – I am getting to it! This is my first blog remember!

Why was I fussing over the lost olives? It clearly wasn’t the last olive. It clearly wasn’t the last choice of topping – jalapenos and mushrooms are a hot favorite too! I don’t know why the olive that day seems like an elusive IIT seat! What if I were to take a non-olive route and take the jalapeno route? Does my pizza/ education come to a standstill if the olive/IIT is out? I would like to believe not.

My dad mentioned an acquaintance pursuing solar engineering in Holland, during a leader speak session at school we heard the person pursues a career in earth science & geo physics, what about our computer science teachers, game designers, sound engineers, instructors at the Aakashs and Allens – Did they all write the IIT entrance and make the cut? I have no idea.

A recent news clip made me wonder on the importance given by students to these competitive exams. Apparently, there are student suicides as a result of not making it into an IIT or AIIMS. Does not meeting the cut means failure? Did all other options die out too?

Well, I don’t know how it will be two years from now when I actually write a competitive exam. I will continue to shoot for the olives because we are wired that way. But I should also remind myself that jalapenos and mushrooms could also be great options. Not saying grapes are sour but I need to remind myself that olives are not the end of my options…
